On Monday, on the occasion of the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the people who lost their lives during the time of 1947 Indian partition. He also recalled the taruma and suffering the people had to go through because of the partition.

It was announced in 2021 that the 14th of August will be observed as the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.

PM Modi posted a tweet and said, “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is an occasion to reverently remember those Indians whose lives were sacrificed in the partition of the country. Along with this, this day also reminds us of the suffering and struggle of those who were forced to bear the brunt of displacement. I salute all such people.”

Hardeep Singh Puri, the Minister for housing and urban affairs and petroleum and natural gas, in an event organized by the Ministry of culture, honored 75 great personalities who went through the tragedy of the partition.

According to the minister, it was because of the wrong policies of those in charge which led to India’s partition. The minister honored the lost lives during the partition and the suffering that the displacement caused people.
