Rapper Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. He addressed the court and requested a second chance before receiving a penalty, according to People.

Lanez outlined the gravity of the accusations made against him and begged the judge to provide him a second chance to prove his innocence. According to People, he also addressed how the public views him, asserting that he is not a heartless monster, and he apologised for his mistakes on the night of the event.

Tory claimed that Megan was a friend of his, and the two of them grew close after both of them lost their mothers. Tory asked a second chance to prove that he had learned his lesson and took full responsibility for his errors.

The rapper’s punishment was given on Tuesday in Los Angeles following nearly two full days of sentencing hearings in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He was given a 10-year prison sentence. Tory might have received a sentence as long as 22 years.

Throughout the previous three months, the sentencing was continued several times, and Tory once begged the judge, “Please don’t ruin my life, sir.”

According to People, he was found guilty of shooting Megan in December.

Tory was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and possession of a loaded, illegal firearm.

Many members of Tory’s family, including his father and stepmother, cried out, “This system stands before God!” after the verdict.

The family was very distressed as a result. Even a few of his family members were escorted out of the courtroom.

Sources familiar with the matter informed us the lawyers for the Canadian rapper had met with immigration officials before the conviction was made public.

They claimed to have received warnings that his deportation was likely but it hasn’t actually happened.

A petition in support of Tory gained traction online after the verdict. To manage his appeal, Tory even hired renowned defence attorney Jose Baez.
