The Opposition’s No-Confidence Motion against the Narendra Modi government is supposed to surface up in parliament on 8th August, in absence of the Prime Minister. Congress’s Rahul Gandhi who has been freshly reinstated in parliament, will come forward to open the heated debate.

It is expected that MP Gaurav Gogoi will open discussion with Gandhi and Manish Tewari and Deepak Baij are likely to speak after him. Gogoi stated, “We look forward to what Rahul Gandhi has to say. He has visited Manipur and in the meantime, he has met with the cross sections of Indian society.” He added that Gandhi’s perspective will be a valuable one as he is aware of the “state of the economy” and also the ground situation in Manipur.

While addressing his party leaders ahead of the no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha, PM Modi stated that the opposition is testing the confidence of its own alliance. During BJP Parliamentary meeting, the PM labelled the opposition alliance as “marked by arrogance.” He also congratulated the party’s members in Rajya Sabha for their “semi-final” win in voting on the Delhi Services Bill.

In a jibe at PM Modi, the opposition pointed out that their leaders visited Manipur but not PM Modi.

During his speech at BJP Parliamentary meeting on Tuesday, PM Modi also mentioned that the alliance by opposition leaders is “plagued by mutual distrust.” He reiterated his call for corruption, and dynastic and appeasement politics to quit India. The No-Confidence debate is likely to continue for a few more sittings.
