Red Bull’s third driver, Daniel Ricciardo, will have a significant opportunity to prove himself when he participates in a tyre test at Silverstone next month. This rare chance for the veteran driver to get behind the wheel comes after the F1 British Grand Prix. Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko stated that Ricciardo’s performance during this test will be evaluated to determine his standing within the team.
Ricciardo’s evaluation coincides with a period of declining performance from Max Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez. Despite securing two grand prix wins earlier in the season, Perez has recently finished lower in the rankings. Marko stressed the importance of keeping options open for potential succession, suggesting that Ricciardo could be in the running for a comeback.
After losing his McLaren seat last season, Ricciardo declined offers from Haas and opted for a third driver role in a leading team, hoping to secure a prominent return to the grid. The upcoming evaluation at Silverstone represents a critical opportunity for Ricciardo to impress Red Bull and potentially realize his desired comeback.
