Leicestershire’s experienced seamer, Chris Wright, is set to embark on a new chapter in his cricketing career as he joins Sussex at the beginning of the 2024 season. The 37-year-old bowler has signed a two-year contract with the club, bringing his wealth of experience to their squad.
Throughout his illustrious 20-season-long first-class career, Wright has been a formidable force, amassing an impressive record of 567 wickets at an average of 32.30. His standout performance came in 2021 against Gloucestershire at Bristol, where he recorded figures of 7 for 53 in a single innings.
Wright’s versatility will be a valuable asset to Sussex, as he will be available for selection across all formats. He has also made significant contributions in white-ball cricket, claiming 174 domestic wickets. Notably, this season has witnessed a resurgence in his batting form, with an average of 56.8 in the County Championship. In a memorable victory against Yorkshire at Headingley, he played a crucial role with twin unbeaten scores of 66 and 40.
