In a crucial moment during the match, Mohammad Shami used the Decision Review System (DRS) to overturn the umpire’s decision and save his wicket. Mitchell Starc delivered a short delivery down the leg side, and Chris Gaffaney, the umpire, raised his finger, giving Shami out caught behind. However, Shami was not convinced and decided to send it for review.

Upon review, it was revealed that the ball had struck Shami’s thigh pad and not his bat or glove. Alex Carey, the wicketkeeper, had made a diving catch to his left, but it was clear that there was no contact with the bat. As a result, the decision was overturned, and Shami was given a reprieve.
