Australia is inching closer to victory in the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023, with India struggling at 220 runs for the loss of 8 wickets while chasing a mammoth target of 444 runs. The crucial wicket to fall was that of Umesh Yadav, who was caught by Alex Carey off the bowling of Mitchell Starc.
Starc delivered a fiery bouncer at an impressive speed of 137 kilometers per hour. The ball angled in towards Yadav, making it difficult for him to handle. In an attempt to evade the ball, Yadav momentarily took his eyes off it, but the delivery was too high for him to avoid. He failed to drop his wrists and ended up gloving the ball. In a remarkable display of athleticism, Carey timed his jump perfectly and held on to the catch with his right hand, adding another brilliant catch to his name.
Yadav’s dismissal for just 1 run off 12 deliveries dealt a severe blow to India’s hopes of mounting a successful run chase. With only two wickets remaining and a substantial target still ahead, the odds are heavily stacked against the Indian team.
