Punjab Kings (PBKS) batsman Harpreet Singh Bhatia recently underwent a keyhole spine surgery to address the discomfort he experienced during the IPL 2023. The 31-year-old batter, who featured in three matches during the tournament, expressed his gratitude to the franchise’s medical team and the overseeing doctor for the successful operation.

Harpreet confirmed that he made the decision to undergo surgery after enduring discomfort in his spine. The keyhole spine surgery was performed successfully, and he has already begun his recovery process. In a statement, Harpreet expressed his appreciation to Dr. Abhay Nene for overseeing the procedure and thanked the medical staff of Punjab Kings, including physios Andrew Leipus, Abhijit Kar, and Rahul Ahluwalia, for their support in enabling him to play through the pain during the IPL.

Despite the surgery, Harpreet remains positive and is looking forward to returning to the cricket field soon. He emphasized his determination to bounce back and expressed his gratitude with the words, “Just a small break for now, but I’ll be back with a bat in my hand soon. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh.”

Harpreet’s appearance in the 16th edition of the IPL marked his return to the tournament after a remarkable gap of 10 years and 332 days, setting a new record for the longest interval between two fixtures in the lucrative T20 competition. Despite playing only three matches, he showcased his skills and contributed significantly, accumulating 77 runs at an average of 25.67.
