The game of cricket is full of twists and turns, and the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings is no exception.
The 26th match of IPL 2021 saw back-to-back wickets fall for RCB as they lost the settled Virat Kohli and their big-hitting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in quick succession, both to the bowling of Harpreet Brar.
Virat Kohli had been in fine form with the bat, scoring 59 runs off 47 deliveries and looking to anchor the RCB innings.
However, in the 17th over of the innings, Harpreet Brar bowled a full delivery around Kohli’s leg stump line.
Kohli tried to paddle it fine but ended up getting a bottom edge, which lobbed off the bat and into the hands of Jitesh Sharma, who took a stunning one-handed catch diving to his left.
RCB’s troubles were far from over, as they lost another wicket in the very next delivery. Glenn Maxwell walked out to bat, looking to provide the finishing touch to the RCB innings.
However, he failed to read Harpreet Brar’s flighted delivery, which turned a bit and got the better of him. Maxwell tried to slog it over mid-wicket but ended up slicing it high in the air.
Atharva Taide took a comfortable catch at cover-point, and Harpreet Brar was suddenly on a hat-trick.
