Mumbai Indians’ campaign in the IPL 2023 started on a shaky note with back-to-back defeats. However, the team has bounced back, registering three wins in a row. The latest win against Sunrisers Hyderabad was impressive as they defeated the hosts by 14 runs.
Apart from the regular players, one young talent who has caught everyone’s attention is Tilak Verma. The 20-year-old left-handed batter from Hyderabad has been in tremendous form, scoring 37 runs off just 17 balls in the match against SRH. He has been consistent throughout the tournament and has already crossed the 200-run mark, becoming the first player from the MI squad to achieve this feat.
Tilak’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and the MI captain and Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, has hinted at his possible inclusion in the national team. After the match against SRH, Rohit spoke highly of Tilak’s approach towards the game.
“We watched Tilak last season. We all know what he can. I love his approach. He doesn’t play the bowler, he plays the ball. We will see him play for a lot of teams. Life has come a full circle,” Rohit said.
Rohit’s statement is a significant boost for Tilak, who has been waiting for his chance to play for India. The left-handed batter has been making waves in domestic cricket and has also been a part of the India U-19 team. With skipper Rohit’s words, it is likely that Tilak will get his maiden call-up to the national team soon.
