The 24th match of IPL 2023 between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore turned out to be a high-scoring encounter at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After winning the toss, RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis decided to bowl first and gave Chennai the chance to set a target. The CSK batters put on an impressive display and gave RCB a target of 227 runs to win.

In reply, RCB’s top batter Virat Kohli fell for just 6 runs. Mahipal Lomror also followed him quickly. However, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell steadied the innings with some big hits. Du Plessis scored 62 runs while Maxwell smashed 76 runs. But once these two departed, RCB’s batting line-up crumbled. Dinesh Karthik and Suyash Prabhudesai made useful contributions, but it was not enough to chase down the mammoth target.

Chennai’s Tushar Deshpande was the star of the bowling attack with 3 wickets to his name, while Akash Singh dismissed Kohli. Matisha Pathirana took 2 wickets and Moeen Ali got 1 wicket.

In the end, RCB needed 18 runs off the final over, but Matisha Pathirana kept his composure and conceded just 10 runs while also picking up the wicket of Prabhudesai on the last ball.

Chennai’s innings got off to a shaky start when Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for just 3 runs. However, Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane steadied the ship with a good partnership. Rahane departed after scoring 37 runs off 20 balls, but Shivam Dube played a brilliant innings of 52 runs off 27 balls. Conway narrowly missed out on a century but still scored 83 runs off just 45 balls, while Ambati Rayudu added 14 runs to the total.

In the end, Chennai managed to post a total of 226 runs, which proved to be too much for RCB to chase down. The match was a thrilling encounter and showcased the best of IPL cricket.
