The cast for MaXXXine, the third installment in the X-Horror series, has been announced.
Mia Goth will appear alongside them in the Ti West production. For the movie, which will begin filming this month in Los Angeles, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon are confirmed.
The story of Goth’s Maxine, the lone survivor of the farmhouse slaughter, will be told in MaXXXine, which will take place after the events of X. Maxine is the only character to be featured in the story. She is an actress trying to break through in 1980s Los Angeles. It will reportedly discuss the perilous realm of independent filmmaking.
Character information is kept a secret, but what is known does point in the right direction. While Debicki is a director, Esposito portrays an agent for adult films and Z-list performers. While Bacon works as a private investigator, Monaghan and Canavale are LAPD officers.
A combined $25 million was made at the box office by the films X and Pearl, which were both set in 1919 and featured the same-named character from X as a young adult. Critics have given both movies high marks.
Goth played Maxine and the much older Pearl in the movie X, which was about a group of directors who were filming a 1970s porno on a farm.Through covert shooting of Pearl and other surprises, like learning that it had already been secretly filmed at the X premiere at South by Southwest, the low-budget trilogy was able to find an audience.
The same thing was done in Toronto, where it was announced that MaXXXine, the successor to Pearl, was also in the works. The new movie is produced by A24 with directors Jacob Jaffke, West, Goth, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss.
The second is being written and directed by West. You have to find a method to actualize these movies, as West previously told The Hollywood Reporter. They don’t have to spend $100 million to do that.
