The IPL franchisee Delhi Capitals had to play the 2023 season without its usual captain due to a terrible accident involving Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, which required the young star to be sidelined from cricket for an extended period of time.
The team management hung a jersey with Rishabh Pant’s No. 17 as a sign that the star batsman will always be with the “team in spirit” during the franchise’s inaugural match of the league against Lucknow SuperGiants. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on the other hand, is not pleased and has requested the team to stop the gesture. The board went on to label the action “uncalled for.”
As the Capitals play their first home game tonight, the DC crowd is prepared to roar once more. Despite the team’s desire to keep Pant’s jersey hung at the dugout in the “spirit,” BCCI believes it should be taken down.
