The Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed New Zealand spin-bowling allrounder Michael Bracewell to replace Will Jacks. 24-year-old Will Jacks, the English batter, suffered a muscle injury while fielding during England’s second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur earlier this month. Scans and consultation with a specialist led him to pull out his name from the franchise league earlier this week. Jacks made his England debut in all three formats this year, winning his T20I and Test caps in Pakistan before playing his first ODI in Bangladesh.
Jacks was one of Royal Challengers’ big buys at the last auction and was acquired for INR 3.2 crore. The BCCI has announced that Bracewell will join Royal Challengers for his auction base price of INR 1 crore. Rachin Ravindra is Bracewell’s replacement for New Zealand’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, which will follow the ongoing Test series.
“RCB have signed New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell as a replacement for England batter Will Jacks for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023,” read a statement on the IPL website on Saturday. Royal Challengers Bangalore will open their IPL 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians on April 2 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
