On February 27, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the airport at Shivamogga, Karnataka. The former chief minister of Karnataka and member of the BJP Central Committee, BS Yediyurappa, is credited with having dreamed up this airport as a significant achievement.

The Shivamogga airport, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweet from Friday, will increase tourism, connectivity, and business.

PM Modi tweeted “The airport in Shivamogga will boost commerce, connectivity and enhance tourism.”

By Raghavendra, a Shivamogga, India, MP, posted a thread on Twitter, to which he answered.

“The dream of an airport at Shivamogga is coming true,” said Raghavendra.

“The Shivamogga Airport will establish itself as not merely an airport, but as the gateway of Malnad region’s journey to transformation,” he stated.

According to MP B Y Raghavendra, the Shivamogga Airport will meet the needs of not just the residents of Shivamogga but also of Central Karnataka as a whole and provide jobs. The IT, tourism, and dairy industries, in particular, will profit from this, he continued. Basavaraj S. Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, tweeted that PM Narendra Modi will open the airport on February 27. According to CM Bommai, it will promote growth and development while reducing congestion at the nearby airports that already exist.

According to B.Y. Raghavendra, a Lok Sabha member from Shivamoggga, the Director General of Civil Aviation had authorised the airport to conduct flights, as per THE HINDU reports.

“The trial run of flights has begun. This will go on for a couple of days. The flight carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at 11.15 a.m. on February 27,” he stated.

He had tweeted earlier that, “The first trial flight lands at Shivamogga. Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji to inaugurate the Shivamogga Airport on Feb 27 by landing on this newly constructed Airport. Come, let us all be a part of this historic moment.”

Apart from the runway, terminal building, ATC tower, and fire station building, the airport’s 662.38 acres of land are also home to a taxiway, apron, approach road, perimeter road, and compound wall.

The Center’s UDAN programme, which aims to make air travel accessible for everyone, funded the construction of the brand-new domestic airport at Sogane in the Shivamogga area.
