The 4th season of the IPL saw more Franchise coming up and with that the number of team participating in the tournament increased from 8 to 10 with addition of teams like Pune warriors and Kochi Tuskers kerala but all did not do well with the teams like Kochi Tuskers.

The team with a new Franchise was seen as a promising prospect for the tournament with representing Kerala but all did not go well with the team by the end of the season as they were terminated by the Governing Body of IPL for not keeping up with the bank guarantee by the stipulated date, thus making it entry as well exist from the tournament in its inaugural run.
Sourav Ganguly Snubbed by KKR.
In the fourth season of IPL the Kolkata Knight Riders reportedly dumped Sourav Ganguly after his base price rose from 200,000$ to 400,000$, the players was not purchased due to the high fee and was bagged by the Pune Warriors for the replacement of injured Ashish Nehra, Though the snub off by the KKR ended the players IPL career in some ways.

South African cheerleader Gabriella Pasqualotto created quite a fuss in the fourth season of the tournament after she blogged about the misbehaviour and disorderly conduct by the players in the post match parties, Soon she was sacked by the IPL as a cheerleader but it was effectively to little to blow off the steam caused by the controversy.
