Stafanie Taylor has been named to the West Indies squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, but her participation is contingent on passing a fitness test. Taylor has been sidelined by a back injury and will be treated in Cape Town. Shakera Selman, Chinelle Henry, and Chedean Nation are the other injured players on the 15-player roster.
Taylor, who led West Indies to the T20 World Cup title in 2016, was injured while batting in an ODI against New Zealand in September at North Sound. She then missed the entire home series against England, which the visitors swept, thanks in part to a string of inept batting performances by the West Indies. She was named to the squad for the ongoing tri-series in South Africa, but she was unable to compete due to injury. She hasn’t played a T20I since July 2021, by the way.
