Meghalaya Assembly
The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly’s term is set to end on March 15, 2023.
The previous assembly elections took place in February 2018.
Following elections in Meghalaya, the state government was established by a coalition led by the National People’s Party (NPP), with Conrad Kongkal Sangma taking over as Chief Minister.
The NPP is the only Northeastern party with national party recognition.
So far, 14 MLAs in Meghalaya have resigned ahead of the impending Assembly elections, lowering the House’s size from 60 to 47, according to Assembly Commissioner and Secretary Andrew Simons.
