Laurus Labs, an Indian pharmaceutical company, announced on Tuesday that four of its employees were killed in a flash fire in a room in a production block of its factory in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

As per Laurus, one additional employee has been examined in a hospital following the incident on Monday evening.

The business, which specialises in anti-retroviral, hepatitis C, and cancer medications, stated that an inquiry has been started without giving any other information about the incident.
Laurus stated that its other production blocks was operating regularly and that it did not expect any significant impact to its operations.
Based on a July filing, it employs approximately 5,700 workers across eight locations, including in the Indian cities of Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Laurus’ shares fell as much as 2.4% in early Tuesday trading before rebounding to trade down 0.5%. They have already dropped by around 29% this year.
