The IPL 2023 auction is started and the event is on headlines. This is the most amazing auctions of all time as there were three most expensive buys in this year’s auction. Despite being a mini-auction, teams were bidding high for the batters and all-rounders.
Biggest buys in the history of IPL:
1. Sam Curran (18.50 Crore): The English all-rounder got sold for INR 18.50 Crore which makes him the highest paid player in the history of IPL. No player has ever got this much amount in IPL. Sam Curran was bought by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023 auctions.
2. Cameroon Green (17.50 Crore): Green becomes the most expensive Australian in the history of Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians bought Green for INR 17.50 Crore in the IPL 2023 auctions.
3. Ben Stokes (16.25 Crore): The English Test team captain Ben Stokes was sold for INR 16.25 Crore equaling with Chris Morris who was the highest paid player before this IPL 2023 auctions. Ben Stokes will play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023.
4. Chris Morris (16.25 Crore): Chris Morris was the biggest buy before this IPL 2023 auctions who got sold to Rajasthan Royals for INR 16.25 Crore. Rajasthan Royals bought him in the 2021 mini-auction.
5. Yuvraj Singh/ Nicholas Pooran (16 Crore): Despite the Indian batter doesn’t play IPL anymore but he is in the top 5 list of biggest buys in IPL history. Yuvraj Singh was bought for INR 16 crore by Delhi Capitals (Delhi Daredevils then) ahead of the IPL 2015. In the IPL 2023 auctions, Nicholas Pooran got the same amount as Yuvraj Singh making him the joint 5th biggest buys in IPL history. Nicholas Pooran was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
