Tamim Iqbal’s injury has delayed his return, so Bangladesh has called up top order batsman Zakir Hasan for the first Test against India. Taskin Ahmed won’t be taking part in the first Test, according to coach Domingo. The pacer was forced to sit out the first two One Day Internationals of the three match series against India due to a back injury.

Zakir won the domestic four-day competition, taking first place in the run-charts, earning him a spot on the 17-person squad. In the first unofficial Test match against India, he was also named Player of the Match after scoring a resolute 173 in the second innings to secure a draw for the hosts. In the ongoing second match, the wicketkeeper-batter followed it up with a 46 in the first innings.

“We are not going to risk Taskin in the first Test,” Domingo said. “He has come off a layoff and few injections. To get him to bowl for day and a half in these conditions in Chattogram is maybe not good for him.”
