The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the global economy to a halt. Industries and businesses have been struggling to survive amidst the most problematic situation bestowed upon the whole world. The demand for all sorts of products, except staples, has decreased. However, the sex toys industry has been able to not only survive but increase its capacity through this unforeseen situation.
The Sex Toys market, since the inception of this disease, has seen a spike in their buying and usage. With people being locked inside their houses, and the level of stress and uncertainty increasing, people have resorted to sex toys thus increasing its demand by 65% across the nation.
The leading online suppliers of sex toys, Thatspersonal.com, published an analytical report titled, ‘India Uncovered: Insightful Analysis of Sex Products’. The report has provided insights into the Indian sex toys industry and how the buying patterns have surged in a country where even the word “sex” is full of taboo.
The survey revealed over 22 million people visiting the websites to buy intimate products and over 3,35,000 products being sold online.
When it comes to looking at the data geographically, Mumbai leads the numbers with maximum buyers of sex toys. The city is followed by Bengaluru and New Delhi bagging the second and the third position. It is also interesting to note that Surat, in the “dry state” of Gujrat, recorded the maximum buying capacity with Rs. 3900 per order placed. At the same time, Uttar Pradesh had the maximum number of male buyers.
The CEO of Thatspersonal.com, Sameer Saraiya, said that with the Indian markets growing rapidly, people in India are interested to “experiment and try out new products”, as reported by dailyhunt.
