After a break of 17 years, England is back in Pakistan to play a Test series. In 2005, an English team last visited Pakistan for a red-ball series.
Pakistan’s right-arm bowler Naseem Shah spoke with the media on Tuesday, November 29, in preparation for the historic Test series against England. When a foreign journalist questioned the 19-year-old, he quickly responded in a hilarious way saying he barely knew 30% of English and that he has used up all of his English comprehension knowledge. The moment he responded with a smart comment, the crowd erupted in hysterical laughing.
“Brother, I have just 30 per cent English. My English is finished now, okay?” Naseem said.
A reporter questioned Naseem about the longevity of renowned England bowler James Anderson during this exchange. The right-arm seamer, who is now 40 years old, is still England’s premier fast bowler, and Shah was all praise for the English legend.
“It’s a very big achievement because I’m a fast bowler, I know how hard it is. He’s a legend, we learn a lot of things from him. When we meet, we discuss about this. He’s still playing at 40, he’s still fit, so you can imagine how much hard work he’s putting,” Shah said.
