On Friday, several kids including Anoushka Sunak, the daughter of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, performed Kuchipudi in London.
The nine-year-old dancer’s performance was a part of “Rang”- International Kuchipudi Dance Festival 2022, the UK’s biggest festival that welcomes dancers of all ages.
Nearly 100 artists, ranging in age from 4 to 85, participated in the event, including live musicians, elderly contemporary dancers (65+ years performing group), a wheelchair dancer with learning disabilities, and international bursary students from Natarang Group, Poland.
The 57th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the first person of Indian ancestry to hold the position is Rishi Sunak. Narayana Murthy, the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, is his wife. Anoushka Sunak and Krishna Sunak are their daughters.
Rishi Sunak recently shared information about how his wife and daughters are adjusting to life in 10 Downing Street. The former chancellor, who is of Indian descent, defied convention by returning to the smaller flat above 10 Downing Street, which is typically the residence of the Chancellor of Exchequer.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will be residing in the larger apartment above No. 11 Downing Street, as he would value the extra space with three children, according to Mr. Sunak in an interview with “The Times.” He also mentioned that his daughters cherished their former residence on the illustrious street when he was the finance minister.
“We thought it would be nice for him [Hunt] to have that bit of extra space so I thought that was the right thing to do,” Sunak told the newspaper.
“But also, that was our home for two and a half years. It’s nice for us to come back to where we used to be, the kids know it, the kids love it. It was the home Nova [Sunak family labrador] first came to when we picked her up as a family,” he said.
The youngest British Prime Minister in 200 years is Mr. Sunak at 42. His desk is adorned with a Ganesha statue, making him the first Hindu to hold the position of highest state office.
