In preparation for some crucial match time against Australia in the second T20I, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be selected for the playing XI. Bumrah participated in an ODI against England on July 14 and has been sidelined ever then. He was unexpectedly left out of the starting lineup for Tuesday’s opening T20I against Australia in Mohali despite being in contention for the World Cup.

Since he hasn’t been active for the past two months due to a back issue, there have been some rumours that the pacer hasn’t fully recovered. However, it is understood that there were no such worries, and the only reason he did not participate in the opening contest was because the team management did not want to press him into action right away following a layoff due to injury.

“The team management did not want to rush him and that is the reason for his absence in the Mohali game,” said a source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), well conversant with the development. “He has been bowling full blast at the nets and he is ready for action,” the source further said. There were no nets at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Wednesday as it was a travel day for the side. Should Bumrah be in the XI, Umesh Yadav may have to make way despite the fact that the Nagpur stadium is his home ground. (Reported by Cricbuzz).
