Since the 1940s, teenagers and mature women have worn “play suits” outdoors, whether at the beach, in the garden to enjoy some sun, or for sportswear. The term “playsuit” evokes thoughts of little children donning something to protect them from dirt, however, now it is a fashion trend for grown-ups. And since Playsuits are back in trend, let us know more about them with the help of this article.
What are Playsuits?
A playsuit, also referred to as a romper, is a one- or two-piece outfit that consists of shorts, and a shirt, and typically has short sleeves and pant legs.
Early in the 20th century, rompers were popular in the US. Additionally, they were widely used as playwear for younger kids. In many ways, rompers, which were lightweight and loose-fitting, were the first modern casual clothes for kids, and their popularity peaked in the 1950s when both girls and boys wore them for leisure and as beachwear. In the 1970s, rompers made a comeback as an adult women’s fashion, and since 2006, rompers have experienced a slight comeback as a women’s fashion item. Moreover, the Male Romper occasionally referred to as a “romp him,” was first presented in Milan, Italy, in 2017.
