Tuesday’s Asia Cup match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh ended in a seven-wicket victory for Afghanistan thanks to some excellent spin bowling and a noteworthy cameo from Najibullah Zadran. Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in Sharjah, capping off another excellent performance that earned them a spot in the Super Four round of the 2022 Asia Cup. Despite batting poorly, Bangladesh seemed to gain the upper hand during Afghanistan’s chase. Najibullah Zadran, though, startled the bowling side in the final over by going on a six-hitting rampage to secure the victory for Afghanistan.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman (3/16) and Rashid Khan (3/22) of Afghanistan’s ace spinners destroyed a careless Bangladesh batting order to reduce the opposition to 127.
Before Najibullah’s aggressive 43 not out off 17 balls, which included six sixes, drove his team over the finish line in 18.3 overs, Bangladesh muzzled Afghanistan in the run chase.
