A prominent hotel in Mumbai received a bomb threat, and the caller demanded Rs 5 crore to defuse the bombs. The caller claimed that four bombs were stored in four different locations inside the hotel. The threat call that city police received was a warning for 26/11-style terrorist attack.

According to a city police official, the Lalit Hotel in Mumbai received a threatening phone call on Monday, August 22, around 6 p.m. The Mumbai police have filed an FIR in the case at the Sahar station under section 336, 507 of IPC.

Taking serious note, the Mumbai Police Department immediately launched an investigation, forming three teams of Crime Branch investigators, while other states and central agencies are also involved in the operations, according to city Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar.

An anonymous bomb threat on early Tuesday morning sparked a frantic search at the Byculla railway station earlier in the month.  Fortunately, nothing suspicious was discovered. The caller was then apprehended by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Phansalkar addressed the media and assured them that Mumbaikars should not panic. The Crime Branch is looking into the matter as they will investigate it from every angle. City Police commissioner assures to keep the city safe.
