Neymar, a star player for Paris Saint-Germain, will go on trial in October on fraud and corruption charges alongside his former teams, FC Barcelona and Santos, according to the Independent. The trial will look into the 2013 transfer of the 30-year-old from Santos to Barcelona.

A complaint was filed seven years ago by DIS, a company that owned 40% rights of Neymar at the time of his transfer to Barça, claiming that they had been defrauded by the player, his family and Barcelona. They didn’t receive the amount that they were supposed to get because of the wrong documentation of the transfer deal by Neymar and the clubs involved.

DIS filed the case against Neymar’s father, mother and his company. Moreover, they have also accused the managing members of FC Barcelona and Brazilian club Santos. Now, DIS are demanding five years of prison and 10 million euros in fine for Neymar and two years in jail for other parties involved. They have also appealed to ban the Brazilian star from the game of football.

However, Neymar and his father have denied this accusation previously in the court of Madrid. The next hearing is scheduled to be held on 17 Oct in the Spanish court just before one month of FIFA World Cup 2022.

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior has already announced his retirement plans for the national team. PSG star has said that this is going to be his last World Cup. However, if the case hearing comes against him, it might put the former Barcelona player into trouble.
