Amitabh Bachchan was extremely upset after delivering back to back flops like ‘Saudagar’, ‘Benaam’, ‘Reshma Aur Shera’ at the beginning of his career. He decided he would pack his bags and go back to Delhi and stay with his parents in 1973.
However, Manoj Kumar stopped Amitabh from doing it and gave him a chance to work in his next film ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.’ He always knew that Bachchan had the talent and attitude to be a superstar. Manoj always gave Amitabh confidence and told him to believe in his craft and keep working hard. Manoj Kumar has made many patriotic films and hence Amitabh was pulled to that genre.
After this incident, Amitabh decided to put his 100% in each film and decided to sign films he truly believed him. Manoj’s film turned out to be a hit and Amitabh was ecstatic. After this, Amitabh was on a hit roll, he soon delivered films like ‘Majboor’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Sholay’ and ‘Chupke Chupke’ which all turned out to be blockbusters. Sholay is yet graded as one of the best movies produced by the Hindi film industry.
Today Amitabh Bachchan has gone over 175 films and is the most iconic actor of Hindi cinema. He was last seen with Ayushmaan Khuranna in Gulabo Sitabo which skipped the theatrical release and came straight on Amazon Prime Video.
