In India’s next tour of the England , vice-captain KL Rahul is expected to miss the series decider between the Rohit Sharma-led team and England. On the eve of the first T20I at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rahul, who was appointed the captain of the side for the South Africa series, suffered an injury.
Rahul, who was supposed to captain India in Rohit Sharma’s absence, was ruled out of the five-match T20I series against South Africa on the eve of the series due to a groyne injury. The BCCI has planned to send the Karnataka player to Germany by the end of June or early July, according to Cricbuzz.
“That is correct, the board is working on his fitness and he will be going to Germany soon,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told Cricbuzz on Thursday.
Rahul hasn’t played for India since February, and his previous Test appearance was against South Africa in January. Last year, he scored 315 runs at 39.38 in four Tests against England.
After four Tests, India is up 2-1 against England. The last match of the series will be held in Edgbaston, Birmingham. During the tour, the Rohit Sharma-led team will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty-20 Internationals (T20Is).
