TATA IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians lose sixth match in a row; out of play-offs?

Mumbai Indians have lost their sixth match in a row after losing to Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday.

Mumbai Indians have yet again failed to get across the losing streak in the TATA IPL 2022. The side lost its sixth match in a row against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday. Lucknow Super Giants while batting first could score 199/4 with the help of skipper KL Rahul who scored a ton but MI’s bowling seemed below average with the likes of Tymal Mills and Fabian Allen leaking maximum runs. Jasprit Bumrah looked decent in his four-overs play, giving way 24 runs but the leading pacer failed to pick up a wicket.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got out to meager scores of 6 and 13, throwing away the chase on the middle order which too didn’t click. Dewald Brewis however had a wonderful time in the middle as the explosive batsman smacked 31 runs off 13 deliveries but the trio consisted of Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Kieron Pollard couldn’t help the MI finish on a winning note. Pollard lacked the finishing touch while Suryakumar threw his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi. Avesh Khan grabbed 3 wickets, becoming a top pick among the Lucknow bowlers.

Mumbai nearly losing half of their matches are almost out of the playoffs. Mumbai Indians will have to win the further matches on a big note without losing either. Considering the form of the franchise, it will be tough to make a come back into the contest when the oppositions like Gujarat, Lucknow, Rajasthan, and Punjab are roaring in the points table. It is for the first time that Mumbai Indians have lost six consecutive matches in the history of the IPL.
