Shikhar Dhawan becomes first Indian to hit 1000 fours in T20 cricket on Friday, and the fifth batsman in ever to do so. After a shrewd start for Punjab Kings against undefeated Gujarat Titans in Mumbai tonight, Dhawan completed the goal.
In a career spanning 15 overs, Dhawan has accumulated more than 8850 runs in T20 cricket. The 36-year-old got his T20I debut for India in 2011 after making his debut for Delhi in the shortest version of the game in 2007.
Dhawan has 1759 runs in 68 T20Is for India, with the majority of his T20 runs coming in the IPL. In the IPL, the left-handed opener has amassed more than 5880 runs, closest only to Virat Kohli’s 6341 runs. With around 665 boundaries, Dhawan leads the list of most boundaries struck in the premier T20 league.
