Gio Queiroz, a Levante player on loan from FC Barcelona, has released a public letter on social media wherein she critiques harassment and psychological assault conducted by folks in charge of the Barça organization during the season prior. The Brazilian, who was just a minor at the time (and is now 18), explains that she has gone through misery since she opted to represent Brazil National Team.
Gio Queiroz addresses a public letter to the president of Barcelona, condemning moral and psychological abuse. The 18-year-old player alleges he was pressured to not defend Brazil. Everything that was done is disclosed in a document given by the player to the club’s presidency. The 18-year-old Brazilian player, who is currently on loan from Barça and plays for Levante, stresses in the letter that “the mentality of abuse and sexist assault towards women can be accepted or condoned.”
The Brazilian, who had the alternative of playing for the United States or the Spanish National Team, asserts that she was facing pressure from Barça when she chose to join the Canaria. “They abusively cornered me to give up defending the Brazilian National Team. Arbitrary methods were used with the clear objective of harming my professional life within the club”, she wrote in the letter.
Regardless of the premise that she was not a close relation of a positive for covid-19, Gio Queiroz claims that she was unjustly incarcerated by the club’s medical staff. FC Barcelona is not directly responsible for the reported abusive behaviour”, but “it must be responsible for ensuring physical, mental, psychological and moral integrity in the face of any form of violence”, she expects the club to open an investigation and report any potential offences to the appropriate authorities.
