To err is human – This proverb holds good for the accidental de route the Indian missile had taken 2 weeks ago into Pakistan’s territory, officials privy to this matter said to PTI.
The inquiry team appointed by the Court said they are looking into the discipline lapses of a Group Captain and his team.
Till now there has been no official statement of this incident which occurred on March 9th, after which Pakistan heavily condemned this unusual incident and took to the streets in a protest against India.
Officials privy to this matter said to PTI, “A major lapse of judgment and technical malfunction suggests the reason behind this unusual incident.”
The Defence Ministry on March 11th said the unusual incident occurred due to a misfire and its trajectory path reached Pakistan and that they regret this incident deeply and are probing into the team responsible when this incident occurred. On March 15th in parliament, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated, “We are reviewing the standard operations procedures, an inspection of the systems and maintenance of these systems”
As soon as the incident came to light, Pakistan approached Indian Charge d’affaires in its capital city Islamabad and condemned the incident stating that India has violated Pakistan’s airspace with a ‘supersonic airborne object’. Pakistani reporters said that the object fell in a region called Mian Chunnu and had damaged a civilian residence, although luckily no casualties were reported.
