There has been considerable uncertainty around the Lucknow Super Giants’ selection as team finds a backup for Mark Wood, who has withdrawn from the IPL owing to an injury. According to some sources, Blessing Muzarabani has been selected in lieu of the English pacer.
According to Cricbuzz the rumour spread after the Indian High Commission in Harare shared a photo of the High Commissioner handing out Indian travel permits to the pacer and wrote: “As he prepared to leave for the #IPL2022, Ambassador met with Zimbabwean bowler Mr Blessing Muzarabani. Ambassador wishes him and his crew the best of luck with the #LucknowSuperGiants.”
The Lucknow authorities refused to comment on the topic, citing a confidentiality agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, but sources told this website that the Zimbabwean will only be joining the squad as a net bowler. A team official also stated that the replacement has been completed and that an announcement would be made soon.
