Players are no longer allowed to select their nationality as Russian when they sign up for the game as they have been removed from the Fantasy Premier League as a response in solidarity to the country of Ukraine. ‘The League strongly condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We call for peace and our thoughts are with all those impacted’, said the official statement released by the League. The move has thus cost 12,000 accounts to be frozen as they could not continue playing, of which 22 of them were ranked top 10k.

However, banners have appeared in the fantasy league, which says, ‘Football Stands Together’ in Ukrainian colours, were about 8 million people have created accounts. The decision was taken to remove all Russian teams including leagues that include players from Russia, according to The Mirror. Several Russian users rushed to social media platforms to report about their teams being taken out of the competitions as Russian players can no longer access the game. Russian national teams were also taken out FIFA 22 by EA Sports, a major gaming entertainment for all gaming enthusiasts.

A broadcast deal worth 6 million with Rambler, was also suspended by the league following the invasion as a unanimous decision from all top-flight 20 clubs in the League.
