The award for February’s POTM was keenly contested, with a handful of big names in the mix. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Thibaut Courtois, Pau Torres, and Nabil Fekir were all in the hunt, but only one of them ended triumphantly.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been crowned as La Liga’s Player of the Month for February. Through February, the gigantic Belgian played every minute of Real Madrid’s six games, a sum of 540 minutes. He only conceded two goals all through this time, one of which was versus Kylian Mbappe in the Champions League – no disgrace in that. He maintained 4 out of 5 clean sheets in the league and turned in some exceptional performance.
It’s strange to think that following his transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid, his goalkeeping skill was criticized, but that’s all in the past now. He has truly cemented himself as being one of the best keepers in the world. With an eight-point cushion at the top of the table, Real Madrid is heavy favourites to win La Liga this year.
Thibaut Courtois’ selection as February Player of the Month is inevitable, especially since the Belgian wall had an amazing performance. He’s still running strong and hasn’t missed a significant minute of play since the league began.
