As promised, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk arranged for a truckload of Starlink user terminals to be delivered to Ukraine on Thursday. SpaceX’s Starlink satellite Internet service covers the vast majority of the planet.
Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Musk and SpaceX in a tweet that included a photo of the terminals. “Starlink keeps our cities connected and emergency services save lives!” he wrote.
Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation also requested assistance with generators in order to maintain Starlinks and other life-saving services operational. To which the world’s richest man promptly responded that he was changing the software to lower peak power usage so that Starlink could be fueled by a 12V automobile cigarette lighter.
He also provided mobile roaming, which allows the “phased array antenna to sustain signal when on moving vehicle.”
@elonmusk @SpaceX @SpaceXStarlink many thx! Starlink keeps our cities connected and emergency services saving lives!
With Russian attacks on our infra, we need generators to keep Starlinks & life-saving services online – ideas? @Honda @ChampionGen @westinghouse @DuroMaxPower pic.twitter.com/FkUZ6s08AO
