In December, 2014, right after drawing the Melbourne third test of the 4 match test series against Australia, MS Dhoni announced retirement from the format. The post was then given to Virat Kohli who has proved to be a formidable, if not better captain in the test format for Indian Cricket.
Following this, in 2017, MS Dhoni provided Virat Kohli with the limited overs armband. Despite MS Dhoni, being the most successful Captain all three ICC Trophies, the transition of hierarchy has proved to be more than smooth.
During this time, not only has Virat Kohli made India the most formidable and consistent Test Side, being number one from 2016-2019, but also performed splendidly in the limited overs formats, unfortunately falling just short a few times.
I think you got to give a lot of kudos to Virat Kohli for having someone like MS Dhoni still in the team: Hussey https://t.co/n6wLnSUHlI

Michael Hussey, was quoted as saying ‘I think that’s where you need to tip your hat to Virat and so you know he’s obviously got the personality to say ‘no, no I would like this guy around. I can learn from this guy, and he’s going to help me get down the better skipper and obviously have a better team’.”
Mr.Cricket lauds Virat for having not been threatened by MS personality and records. Instead, he believes Virat’s aggressive personality against MS Dhoni’s cool has provided the Indian team with the perfect balance. Michael Hussey is impressed by the cooperation between MS and Virat. This includes the aspect of Virat being open to learning continuously from a legend, years his senior.
With Virat at the helm, Rohit Sharma as his deputy, and experience in the form of MS Dhoni, Indian Cricket seems to be in the right hands.
