Of the 7 phase election in Uttar Pradesh, today marks the 1st phase of elections. About 35.03% of voters were present till 1 pm.

The polling commenced at 7:00 hrs for 58 assembly positions in 11 districts – encompassing the jat prepotent belt of western UP.

The voting will be on till 18:00 hrs and on 10th March 2022, the counting of votes will commence. Agra, Aligarh, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Mathura, and Shamli are the 11 participating districts where the elections are being held today.

This is a contest between the party in power BJP and the Samajwadi Party – Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) alliance; the UP assembly state polls are dominated by these actions.

In the first phase, a total of 623 candidates are contending from 58 constituencies.

BJP in 2017 had won 53 out of 58 seats, Sp and BSP won 2 seats each and RLD won 1 seat.

Promises by BJP President JP Nadda

During his road rally today Mr. JP Nadda said,” we will make UP riot free, mafia-free, free from terrorist patrons. Anti-terrorist commando centers will come up in Meerut, Azamgarh, Kanpur, Bahraich and Deoband.”

Samajwadi Party honcho Mr. Akhilesh Yadav appealed to EC, “There is an appeal to EC and its expected that wherever there are allegations of EVM malfunctions, it should immediately take appropriate action the polling booths.’Smooth and fair voting’ is the prime responsibility of the EC.”
