Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Statue Of Equality in Hyderabad, in memory of 11th-century Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya.
The statue is prepared of ‘panchaloha’, a mixture of five metals – gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc. It is one of the tallest metallic statues in sitting position in the world. It is made on a 54-feet high base building, named ‘Bhadra Vedi’. The statue has floors dedicated to a Vedic digital library and research centre, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery listing many endeavours of Sri Ramanujacharya.
It is surrounded by the miniatures of 108 sacred shrines from various parts of the country, comprising of Tirumala, Srirangam, Kanchi, Ahobilam, Badrinath, Muktinath, Ayodhya, Brindavan, Kumbhakonam, and others. It has been idealized by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram.
A temple of Ramanujacharya enclosing an area of about 300,000 square feet has also been built in the area, where a 120 kg gold idol will be seated for daily worship. The inauguration of the Statue of Equality is a part of the 12-day Sri Ramanuja Sahasrabdi Samaroham, the presently going 1,000th birth anniversary festivities of Sri Ramanujacharya.
Sri Ramanujacharya attempted a lot of work for the upliftment of people with the essence of every human to be equal regardless of nationality, gender, race, caste or creed.
