On Wednesday, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood was released on bail by police who were questioning him on the suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman.
Greater Manchester Police said that Greenwood who had been in custody since he was arrested on Sunday, has been released on bail pending further investigation.
Manchester United has said that the 20-year-old forward player will not train with or play for the club until further notice.
Nike has suspended their relationship with Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, the sportswear giant said after allegations were put online that he had assaulted a woman.
On Sunday, United said that they were aware of images and allegations spreading on social media and later confirms that Greenwood wouldn’t come back to the training or play for the Old Trafford club until further notice.
“We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood. We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation”, Nike spokesperson said to Reuters.
The allegations against him, including the video, photographs, and voice note were posted on Instagram on Sunday and later on, it was deleted.
Greater Manchester Police said that Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault and was in custody for questioning after a woman posted images and videos, reporting incidents of physical violence.
