After Novak Djokovic’s appeal against the deportation order gets dismissed by the Australian courts, Serbian President Aleksander Vucic stood for Djokovic by saying that Australia humiliated themselves with this judgment.

Djokovic’s visa was rejected as the player is unvaccinated against COVID-19. The match that he was about to play against Miomir Kecmanovic tomorrow has also gotten cancelled.

Aleksander Vucic also said that they think by doing this they humiliated Djokovic but instead, they have humiliated themselves. Novak Djokovic can return to his homeland with his head held high.

The Serbian President has constantly supported Djokovic throughout the struggle, calling the prior detention of Djokovic a “Political witch hunt”.

Vucic further said that he had spoken to Djokovic after the decision and also encouraged him. He looks forwards to the World’s No.1 Tennis player returning to his country, where he is always welcome.

Early in Australia, Djokovic said that he is very disappointed by the judgement of Federal courts after upholding the decision to dismiss his visa, due to the worry of stoking anti-vaccine sentiments. Thereby breezing away his dream of a 21 Grand slam record.

The court ruling has fueled outrage among Djokovic’s fans in Serbia. Nebojsa Viskovic, a journalist covering notably tennis told AFP, “It’s a farce, all this has nothing to do with sport.”

Novak Djokovic who is very disappointed also said that he would act by the unanimous ruling.
