Amidst the ongoing coronavirus-crisis, actor Bhumi Pednekar supported migrant laborers traveling long distances, in a rather unique way- by donating footwear to them.
The gut-wrenching images of underprivileged migrant laborers walking home barefoot on the road made the ‘Pati Patni Aur Wo’ actress thought of a way to make the journey more bearable by handing out the pairs of some footwears. Pednekar joined hands with a footwear company and a volunteer-based non-government organization – The Robin Hood Army – to help the underprivileged with footwear and teamed up with volunteer groups around areas of Ghaziabad in Murad Nagar, Govindpuram and Vijay Nagar to help reach out to over 1000 laborers and distribute pairs of footwear.
The actor helped over 1000 migrant laborers in and around Ghaziabad in Murad Nagar, Govindpuram, Vijay Nagar, and distributed footwear among men and women across age-groups.
Bhumi pledge to contribute supplies, food, essentials, and other such materials to the needy during the lockdown. The actress also used her social media handles to request her fans to also reach out in any way they can to help the “vulnerable” in distress during this fight against coronavirus.
Bhumi was last seen in the film ‘Bhoot Part 1: The Haunted Ship’, opposite Vicky Kaushal. The film was among the few to release in the first half of 2020, before the COVID-induced lockdown that forced the shutting down of theatres and even the film industry at large.
