On this day in the year 2018, a young talented batsman in the name of Prithvi Shaw made his test debut for the Indian Cricket team after his superior performance in the Ranji Trophy. He made a name of his own when he played his first match in Rajkot on this day, and completely beat the bowlers by scoring a huge 134 runs off 154 deliveries. He also smashed nineteen boundaries to get to his maiden test century on his debut day. It was a sense of achievement as captain Virat Kohli was very happy for this young player as he kept praising him during this Test match in Rajkot.

KL Rahul opened the innings with Prithvi Shaw in the first test match. They got off to a good start but with KL Rahul’s departure, it was time for Shaw to take over the innings. He was successful in taking over the innings as he tore West Indies apart with his classical shots which made him achieve his maiden test century on his test debut.

He scored his maiden century in a Test match and also became the youngest Indian batsman to reach the triple-figure mark on debut for the Indian Cricket Team.

Coach Ravi Shastri praised the 18-year-old youngster after his magnificent ton against the West Indies in Rajkot. He did compare him with the likes of legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. He shared a 206 runs partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara as well before getting dismissed by Devandra Bishoo on 134 runs, with his historical innings coming to an end.
