With the start of the second phase of the IPL, the Cricket Board of India has appointed the Central Covid-19 testing agency to make sure every covid-19 report must pass on to respective franchises for the safety of players and support staff with the latest guidelines.
A source told ANI that while earlier each franchise was allowed to have its agencies, the cricket board has now handed over the responsibility to Healthcare to conduct periodic Covid-19 tests and report them to not just the teams. but also given to the cricket board.
“The BCCI felt it was important to have a central testing agency like that would help in keeping a tab on all testing taking place, as also the results of tests would be immediately available to the board. There will be no delay in transmission of information in this process,” the ANI source said. With Bio Bubble rules the temperature of each player is checked before the match.
The current season, which was earlier cancelled, has resumed on Sunday between arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians where Chennai Super Kings won by 20 runs after batting first. So far only Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Natarajan has been tested positive for COVID-19.
