Liverpool multiplied their goal count for the week as they broke down a strong Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday, securing a 3-0 triumph to follow their 3-2 thriller against AC Milan in the Champions League during the midweek that brought back many memories to the fans as their encounters in two UCL finals are remembered till date.

Patrick Vieira’s initial games as Palace manager have brought mixed outcomes but have yet shown encouraging and promising performances for the fans. Palaces showed stubbornness throughout the game. Mo Salah and midfielder Naby Keita were on the score sheet on the 78th and 89th minutes respectively while the Senegalese international Sadio Mane scored his 100th goal for Liverpool on the blind of half time in the 43rd minute. The game ended 3-0 at Anfield.

On the other hand, Manchester City has dropped points as the visitors, Southampton has managed to keep the City attack at bay. The Citizens had taken a total of 16 shots to test Alex McCarthy in goal but they had only managed to put one shot on target for the entire game. VAR had its part to play in the game that only added to the frustration of the fans and plates. A 90th-minute header from the City forward Raheem Sterling that finally found the back of the net was ruled out as offside to keep the game goalless.

The win for Liverpool has put them on top of the table as of now while Man City have dropped to 3rd place as it stands with tomorrow’s fixtures having a huge possibility to play a part in the further change of the table as Chelsea visit Tottenham for a London Derby and Manchester United travel to the London Stadium.
