Indian Super League side SC East Bengal have signed a one year deal with midfielder Songpu Singsit from I-League side Neroca FC for the upcoming Indian Super League season.
The 22-year-old forward has made his mark in Indian football and has scored 3 goals and the same number of assists in 14 matches for Neroca FC. He was awarded Fans’ emerging player of the season award 2020-21.

Sourav Das, who joined East Bengal last year from Mumbai City FC, signed a one-year contract extension with the club. He played seven times during the 2020-21 campaign. Symbol Haokip has also signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the club till the end of the season. The 25-year-old said that he is thrilled to be part of SC East Bengal for another season and as he hails from Bengal, he knows what this club means to all the fans here locally and that motivates him further. He added that he is looking forward to working with the gaffer (Robbie Fowler) again and his experience around the team was brilliant last time around.

The Red-and-gold brigade has been very active in this transfer window after West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s intervention to ensure the club stays in the ISL this season. She intervened in the dispute between Shree Cements and the East Bengal officials. Since then, they haven’t looked back and signed loan deals for Jackichand Singh, Adil Khan, Joyner Lourenco and Amarjit Singh Kiyam. They made headlines yesterday after signing Golden Glove-winning goalkeeper from ATK Mohun Bagan, Amarinder Singh.

They are looking forward to much better than last season where they finished in the bottom half of the season and wants to compete with their rivals, Mohun Bagan.
