Tottenham Hotspur players newly signed Cristian Romero and midfielder Giovani Lo Celso have been released from the Argentine squad after their match got suspended against Brazil on Sunday night. The health authorities of Brazil came onto the pitch to stop the game because some players of the Premier League (UK) break the COVID-19 guidelines made by the government. The other two players named Aston Villa’s new signing Emi Buendia and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez are also released by Argentina as they confirmed in their statement on Monday.
“Players Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero are also unaffected for the game with Bolivia and return to their club.” Argentina released an official statement on Monday.
However, the players of the UK are released from international duty but they can’t join their club soon. They will have to follow the guidelines that the UK government has made. It means the players will have to quarantine for at least 10 days before joining their respective Premier League teams. Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing defender Cristian Romero and midfielder Giovani Lo Celso are set to miss their Premier League upcoming game against Crystal Palace which is to be held on Saturday, 11th September as they are in the strict 10 days quarantine. Not only this game, but the Tottenham duo is likely to miss their next game, which is a Europa Conference League game against Rennes on Thursday.
However, the Spurs have a big game ahead of this Rennes clash. They will be facing Chelsea on Sunday, 19th September in the Premier League. There is a high possibility that Romero and Lo Celso will join the team before the London Derby.
